Head of Programmes – IT/ Business Change

A Head of Programmes is required by a growing organisation based in London, where you will be accountable for the timely and accurate delivery of their IT and business change projects, and will engage with the CIO, Exec Management Team and other stakeholders to evolve, refine and progress the pipeline of future initiatives.

The Head of Programmes will lead a team of Project Managers and Business Analysts, including a core team of permanent employees and flex resource formed of fixed-term, contract and partner resources. They will work closely with the Head of Development and Head of Data, and will engage on a daily basis with internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects have well-defined requirements, benefits and success criteria.

Key activities within the role include:
– To lead the delivery of projects within this organsiation’s IT and business change programme, ensuring that they meet stated expectations in terms of timelines, scope, budget and quality.
– To ensure project interdependencies are identified, tracked and managed to reduce risk and support delivery in line with programme timelines.
– To provide clear and concise reporting on project progress, adopting a format and level of detail appropriate to the audience.
– To ensure that PMO team members are performing well and meeting expectations, recruiting new team members as required from time to time, and putting in place effective development plans to increase knowledge and skills,
– To drive end-to-end project management (across multiple projects), from business case development through to implementation, of new products and services.
– To develop and maintain relationships with project teams, stakeholders, delivery partners, 3rd party vendors, members and auditors.

Along with strong Programme Management Experience and successfully leading and delivering complex, multi-stream programmes of IT and business change, you will also have the following:
– Proven experience in delivering projects in line with industry standard project management tools and methodologies such as Agile, PRINCE2, PMI and MS Project. It is expected that the Programme Manager will have achieved relevant formal accreditation and certification.
– Experience of managing projects delivered using an Agile methodology, and at least 2 years’ experience using a Waterfall methodology.
– Experience producing and managing financial forecasts and budgets, resource plans, dependency matrices.
– An awareness of infrastructure and software development methodologies, tools and techniques.
– Experience of and the ability to work with a diverse group of stakeholders and bring individuals together, to ensure collaboration throughout the entire project life cycle.
– Ability to coach & mentor others
– Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information in an accessible way to both internal and external stakeholders.

PLEASE NOTE: travel to this client’s Reading office will be required every now and again.
