Stott and May’s Cyber Security Centre of Excellence supports our commitment to ensuring that our level of knowledge and insight remains at the forefront of the industry and enables our clients to achieve their objectives.

A world first, the centre is an innovative training academy, where Stott and May’s highly regarded cyber security specialists train sales professionals in the advanced methodology of the cyber security recruitment market, providing them with the tools they need to become leading recruitment professionals in the field.

How does it function?

The Cyber Security Centre for Excellence is run by Simon Kouttis and Oliver Kuenhe, managers of Stott and May’s Cyber Security division, who also lead the centre’s sales and technical training, drawing on their extensive experience of recruiting for the cyber security market.

Representatives from Stott and May’s network of cyber security clients, candidates and suppliers are regularly invited to work with the centre to pass on their knowledge of the market, and provide students with an excellent opportunity to network with those already in the industry.

The centre also regularly invites industry experts to lead training workshops, ensuring that Stott and May remains at the cutting edge of change in this rapidly evolving sector.

The centre’s programme consists of two weeks’ intensive classroom-based interactive training, combined with discussion and independent study. Each trainee is paired with a senior recruitment consultant, with whom they work for eight months to get hands-on experience of working as a cyber security recruitment specialist.

The main objective of the academy is to ensure that trainees have enough knowledge and passion for the industry with which to form an opinion. It is designed to be thought provoking and challenging – we hold regular debates which allow a better way of communicating with our clients and candidates. We study market reports and white papers to reinforce the context of our discussions.

Upon graduating from the centre, candidates can join Stott and May’s UK cyber security team and have the potential to move to the New York office to continue their development in the field.
